Regular season

The regular season consists of 28 games, including 16 conference games and 12 nonconference games. Three of the 12 nonconference games are part of a multi-team tournament at a neutral site.

Postseason

Qualified teams may either participate in the Heat Check Sim Tournament (64 teams) or Heat Check Sim Invitational (32 teams).

Program Expectation

Program Expectation is a 0-to-100 rating given to every team at the start of a new season. This rating takes multiple things into account, such as the program’s historical expectations, the quality of the team’s players, intriguing newcomers, marquee games and gameday prices. The higher the rating, the higher the expectations are for a particular school that season. Meeting or exceeding expectations will positively impact a coach’s track record while falling short will be damaging.

Coaching Performance

While the Fan Expectation rating is set in stone entering the season, the 0-to-100 Coaching Performance rating measures the coach’s level of success (or lack thereof) and will fluctuate throughout the season. Securing postseason berths, winning marquee matchups, landing high-level recruits and avoiding off-court drama positively impact the final Coaching Performance rating, which defaults to 50 at the start of every season.

Legacy Score

Legacy Score = Coaching Performance — Program Expectation

Finally, the Legacy Score is the difference between the Coaching Performance and Fan Expectation ratings. For example, if a coach enters the season with a Program Expectation rating of 81 and the coach records a Coaching Performance rating of 93, the coach’s Legacy Score for that season was +12. The higher the Legacy Score, the easier it is to sign star-studded recruits, hire better assistant coaches or be first in line when a high-level coaching vacancy opens.

Assistant Coaches

Every coach will have one assistant coach. Prior to the first season, there will be an opportunity for every coach to sign an assistant coach. The assistant coach has two attributes ranging from 0 to 10: RECRUIT and SCOUT. The RECRUIT attribute is the assistant’s ability to court and eventually land prospective recruits. The SCOUT attribute is the assistant’s ability to accurately uncover a recruit’s ratings and attributes during the recruiting process. For example, an assistant with a SCOUT rating of 9 will report on a recruit’s OFF and DEF ratings with a range of 1.0 with the exact player attributes while a SCOUT rating of 4 will report on a recruit’s ratings with a range of 3.5 with two possibilities of a player’s attributes.

Summer Circuit

The Summer Circuit is the first opportunity for coaches to check out the new batch of recruits. Your assistant coach’s SCOUT rating will determine the accuracy of the player’s attributes.
