In a field chock-full of would-be spoilers, can Casey Alexander carry on Belmont’s legacy of March success?

Over the past ten seasons, the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament has crowned six different champions, but tied at three apiece are perennial challengers Belmont and Murray State. While the Racers have taken steps back in each of the past two seasons since losing Ja Morant to the NBA, the Bruins haven’t missed a beat despite replacing a legend of the game in former coach Rick Byrd. Under Casey Alexander, this Belmont team just nabbed its fifth consecutive OVC crown.

But before you get too carried away thinking the Bruins are going to walk through the OVC Tournament, consider this: there are only eight teams in America that have 20 wins through the end of February, and the Ohio Valley has three of them. In addition to Belmont, Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky are also having remarkable seasons and will be chomping at the bit to knock the Bruins from their pedestal. And we haven’t even mentioned the potential All-American hiding out in the middle of the OVC pack!

Buckle in, folks. This tournament is always exciting.
