Merrimack could put only 35 points on the board against Rutgers in Saturday’s 48-35 defeat. The Warriors even held a 25-16 lead early in the second half before scoring just 12 points in the final 20 minutes. Merrimack actually took care of the basketball fairly well with just six turnovers but shot 14-of-60 from the field and 3-of-6 from the line. Senior Mikey Watkins’ 12 points were over a third of the team’s entire scoring total.
Sunday’s Bracketology Watch
Yale has an opportunity to secure a massive at-large bracketology boost when it takes on Seton Hall. Despite missing last year due to COVID-19, the Ivy League has been one of the bright spots in the early going of the season with Yale beating UMass, Princeton topping South Carolina and Dartmouth upsetting Georgetown. While it may not mean not multiple bids by season’s end, a strong nonconference showing by the league could go a long way in improved metrics and eventual tournament seeding.
