Duke enters March Madness as the favorite to win the NCAA Tournament. Can anyone in the East Region stand in their way?

The Duke Blue Devils have been among the favorites to win the national championship for most of the 2024-25 season and will enter the tournament as the team most selected to cut down the nets.

They are the headliners of this region loaded with explosive offenses and proven teams. Alabama joins the Blue Devils as having a top-four offense in the country, per KenPom, while BYU, Arizona, Wisconsin and Baylor also find themselves in the top 16. With this many elite units, the East region will be perhaps the most exciting, with the intriguing prospect of someone knocking off Duke looming over these games.

Some dangerous double-digit seeds look capable of throwing a wrench into things, too. No. 11 seed VCU’s defense is menacing and has a history of pulling March upsets. Meanwhile, No. 10 Vanderbilt racked up five Quad 1 wins this year, showing its ability to beat some of the nation’s elite teams.
