For those focused on seeking out NBA Draft prospects of the future, which teams should they have their eyes glued to early and often in 2023-24?
NBA Draft prospects come from all kinds of backgrounds and across the world. For instance, the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft featured players selected from international leagues, Overtime Elite, and G League Ignite.
However, the most visible scouting pool is still college basketball — at least, for the average fan. Not only do the majority of draftees come from the Division I ranks, but they also play in high-leverage, televised games throughout the winter season.
Looking at the 2023-24 season, which teams feature the most potential next-level talent? Here are 15 to watch for their crop of NBA Draft prospects.
1. Duke Blue Devils
Duke is a two-and-done factory this season as top NBA Draft prospects — Tyrese Proctor, Kyle Filipowski and Mark Mitchell — enter their second seasons in Durham. Proctor is perhaps the most notable for draft purposes and is arguably the most hyped breakout player in the country. He averaged just 9.4 points and 3.3 assists last season but is a trendy preseason All-America pick; that is how much he passes the eye test.

Filipowski is the reigning ACC Rookie of the Year and led Duke in scoring last year. He is a versatile offensive threat at 7-0 with lottery expectations. Mitchell is also a former five-star who started every game last season; he showed excellent defensive potential. The elder statesman of the group, returning senior Jeremy Roach, finished last season averaging 15.6 points over his last 15 games; carrying that over would generate draft intrigue.
Of course, Duke still has plenty of freshmen to watch as well. Jared McCain, TJ Power, Sean Stewart, and Caleb Foster finished in 247Sports’ top 25 for the 2023 class. Whether they are one-and-done remains to be seen, but they are on the radar.
