CHAMPAIGN, IL - FEBRUARY 11: Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo points across the court during the Big Ten Conference college basketball game between the Michigan State Spartans and the Illinois Fighting Illini on February 11, 2020, at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois. (Photo by Michael Allio/Icon Sportswire) Marquette transfer Joey Hauser figures to fill a starting role for Michigan State during his first season with the program. He should be familiar with Coach Izzo’s sets as well, having practiced last year while sitting out. The Marquette transfer is a solid defender but should make a huge impact on the offensive end. With excellent size at 6-9 and a smooth shot from distance, he is a very versatile threat.
Hauser was Marquette’s third offensive option during his freshman year (2018-19) and he contributed an efficient campaign. He chipped in 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while connecting on 42.5 percent of his 3-point attempts. Hauser should be a full-time starter as one of Sparty’s top offensive threats.
