Chaundee Brown commits

Former top-40 recruit and Wake Forest transfer Chaundee Brown announced his new college choice on Tuesday. Brown will join forces with Juwan Howard and the Michigan Wolverines. The 6-5 guard was a three-year starter in the ACC.

“They made me feel like family already, and that meant a lot to me,” Brown said. Gonzaga and Illinois were also in the running for Brown, who averaged 12.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this past season for the Demon Deacons. Brown will have to sit out the ’20-21 season due to transfer rules unless he’s able to gain a waiver.

SFA announces ban

Stephen F. Austin has been one of the most dominant mid-major teams in the nation over the years. Over the past eight seasons, SFA has won at least 27 games six times, winning NCAA Tournament games in 2014 and 2016.

Regardless what happens on the floor, the Lumberjacks won’t participate in the 2022 postseason. The university announced Tuesday that it has fallen under the Academic Progress Rate (APR) necessary to compete in the postseason. The reported reason behind the APR nosedive is an “administrative error in the academic certification process,” according to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.

Texas Tech lands talented recruit

Chris Beard continues to load up. On Tuesday, Beard and the Red Raiders staff landed a big commitment for the future in 2021 small forward Jaylon Tyson. According to Rivals, Tyson sits just outside the top 100 at No. 104 in the class of 2021 rankings and is tabbed as a four-star.

Tyson is listed at 6-6/195 and is a native of Plano, Texas. He is the first commitment of Texas Tech’s 2021 class and will help the program transition after the exhausted eligibility of Davide Moretti and Marcus Santos-Silva following the ’20-21 season.
