ETSU focuses on three candidates
East Tennessee State has narrowed its head-coaching search following the departure of Steve Forbes to Wake Forest. The current candidates include ETSU interim head coach Jason Shay, New Mexico State head coach Chris Jans and Kentucky assistant Joel Justus, according to 24/7Sports’ Evan Daniels.
ETSU won a total of 130 games in five years under Forbes, one of the highest totals in the entire nation. The Buccaneers are set to lose some key contributors in the offseason in Tray Boyd III (13.6 ppg), Isaiah Tisdale (9.2 ppg) and Lucas N’Guessan (8.9 ppg).
Romello White’s early list
The race is on for highly coveted grad transfer Romello White. The former Arizona State big man entered the portal over the weekend to the surprise of many, and is now seeking a new team for his final season of college basketball.
White’s early list includes the following schools: Seton Hall, Purdue, Auburn, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Wake Forest, Memphis, Arkansas, West Virginia and DePaul. The Georgia native is a former top-100 recruit who started 90 games over the past three years at ASU, averaging 9.8 points and seven rebounds per game.
Top-60 UConn commit reclassifies
Four-star big man Adam Sanogo verbally committed to UConn on Tuesday and announced his reclassification from the 2021 class to the 2020 class. The 6-9, 250-pound center out of New Jersey picked Dan Hurley and the Huskies over Maryland, Nebraska, Seton Hall and others.
“I picked UConn because it’s the best place for me,” Sanogo told 24/7Sports. Originally from Mali, Sanogo becomes the third prospect for UConn’s 2020 class after having committed with the program without having an opportunity to make an official visit to due COVID-19.
