Tuesday’ Disaster Index
Were the worries about Virginia premature? Maybe offensively it holds true, but it appears Tony Bennett’s team is back on its ‘A’ game on the defensive end after limiting Providence to just 40 points on Tuesday. The Friars averaged just 0.71 points per possession, shooting 3-of-22 from deep and 12-51 overall from the field. Providence had four points over the game’s final 10 minutes.
Wednesday’s Bracketology Watch
Saint Mary’s looks to scratch out yet another quality win for the WCC when it takes on Wisconsin in the Maui Invitational championship. The WCC has been a major surprise out of the gates with the top five teams off to a combined 27-0 record after Gonzaga’s thunderous win over UCLA Tuesday night. The Gaels have an opportunity to improve the league’s at-large chances for teams outside of Gonzaga and BYU.

Houston vs. Oregon (2:30 p.m. ET; ESPN2)

UConn vs. Auburn (2:30 p.m. ET; ESPN2)
—MONEYLINE; -142: Another top-25 battle, UConn has its first test against a quality opponent. Look for the Huskies to get extra opportunities on the boards.
Xavier vs. Iowa State (7 p.m. ET; ESPNU)
—MONEYLINE; -450: The Musketeers followed up their impressive Ohio State win by beating the brakes off previously undefeated Norfolk State. Iowa State has yet to be tested this season by a likely tournament team.
Washington vs. Nevada (7 p.m. ET; ESPN+)
