CHATTANOOGA, TN - JANUARY 15: Chattanooga Mocs head coach Lamont Paris speaks to the team during the college basketball game between Wofford and UT-Chattanooga on January 15, 2020, at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, TN. (Photo by Frank Mattia/Icon Sportswire) After a couple of years with a runaway favorite, the SoCon is back with several teams vying for the league’s automatic bid. UNCG, Wofford and Furman all finished league play with the same number of losses and shared a number of competitive head-to-head contests during the season.
The top seven seeds in the SoCon are separated by just 60 spots in KenPom. Three different teams have won this tournament in the last three years and a fourth in four years is certainly plausible. The SoCon checks all the boxes of a mid-major tournament that could feature upsets and an AQ that could ultimately pull off an upset in March.
