Bracketology

Latest bracketology (Nov. 8)

Belmont and Ohio enter the season with visions of an NCAA Tournament berth, and it doesn’t get much bigger than a head-to-head matchup between two of the best mid-majors to start things off.

Both the OVC and MAC have been multi-bid leagues just once over the past 25 seasons, and Tuesday’s winner will have a head start towards assembling an at-large-worthy profile.

Wager: $10.00
To Win: $177.70
Season ROI: N/A

IUPUI at Butler (6:45 p.m. ET; FS1)
SPREAD; +27.5: Butler —down four players to start the year — won its D-2 exhibitions by a 5-point margin and 10-point margin. Now it’s expected to beat a D-1 team by more than 28 points.

Toledo at Valparaiso (7 p.m. ET; ESPN+)
SPREAD; -4.5: Like Butler, Valpo had its exhibition struggles as well — an 87-78 loss to Ashland and 70-67 loss to Flagler. Toledo’s Ryan Rollins is the real deal.

Siena at St. Bonaventure (7 p.m. ET; ESPN+)
SPREAD; +19.5: The No. 23 Bonnies are banged up to start the year with Jalen Adaway and Kyle Lofton both listed as game-time decisions Tuesday. Both programs are accustomed to slow tempo as well.

Duke vs. Kentucky (9:30 p.m. ET; ESPN)
MONEYLINE; -118: Both teams are figuring out how their new pieces will fit, but this is Coach K’s last hurrah, and he has arguably the best player in college hoops in Paolo Banchero by his side.
