In a Southland Tournament that will mark the end of an era, will one of the WAC-bound schools add one last league tournament trophy?

As you may have heard, the Southland Conference is going to a look a lot different next year, with four teams — Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston State, and Stephen F. Austin — all leaving the league to join the new WAC consortium slightly further west. In fact, to help you get used to the new-look Southland, the NCAA approved a plan to let SFA serve out a postseason ban this year, so the perennially strong Lumberjacks won’t be in attendance (despite hosting the event).

As for ACU, Lamar, and Sam Houston State? If things go to plan, those teams will run through each other on the bottom side of the bracket, so bitter Southland fans can just ignore those games if they so choose. (Just kidding.) But one team that is sticking around in the league is No. 1 seed Nicholls, who will try to create a new dynasty as they tell the departing programs not to let the door hit them on the way out.
