Alabama and Arkansas headline an SEC Tournament full of talented teams looking to make statements to the NCAA Tournament selection committee.
It was a topsy-turvy season in the SEC. Kentucky began the season as the odds-on favorite to win the conference, but were quickly supplanted by Tennessee after the first couple of weeks. Then, Missouri took the mantle of the SEC’s best team for a short period of time only to have Alabama step in and take it. The Crimson Tide have held that post for a large majority of the season, but now Arkansas is coming for the crown, riding an 11-game win streak against conference opponents.
All of that leads us to the SEC Tournament, where there is a gap that has emerged between the top half and bottom half of the league. Six teams are NCAA Tournament locks while only one, Ole Miss, is even close to the bubble conversation. The rest are fighting to earn their way in by winning the conference’s auto bid, which should make for an entertaining week in Nashville.
